1) Polignano a Mare and the romantic restaurant inside a cave – GET TO KNOW CITY ATTRACTIONS
We start with the historic center. The central point of the city, and where one of the most beautiful spots is, is Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II (Vittorio Emanuele II Square). There you can also visit the Mother church (Chiesa Matrice), which is the most important point in the city. The Church, although the city’s patron is Saint Vitus, is dedicated to Saint Mary of the Assumption. The city’s old port, Ponte Lama Monachile, is also worth visiting, as is Via Traiana. Continuing, visit the Arco Marchesale, which once became the only access road to Polignano a Mare, dazzles our eyes in an impressive way!
Three kilometers away, you can visit the Abbey of Saint Vitus; you can get there by the street that gives access to Mola di Bari. The building is from the 9th century and extremely well maintained. Another interesting place is the Scoglio dell’Eremita, which is actually called Isolotto San Paolo. The sunset seen from here is breathtaking! And finally, the Museo Comunale d’Arte Contemporanea Pino Pascalo (Municipal Museum of Contemporary Art Pino Pascalo) houses works of art by the artist himself, who was born in Polignano, in addition to presenting works by new local and international artists.
2) Polignano a Mare and the romantic restaurant inside a cave – MEET THE FAMOUS RESTAURANT INSIDE THE CAVE
The city has approximately 80 caves, the most famous of which is the Palazzesse Cave, where a beautiful hotel and restaurant are located! The restaurant is one of the most sought after in the city and requires reservation, it is a very disputed place, because in addition to having a splendid menu, the view from the place is magnificent! It is not cheap, but it is worth the experience (on average 100 Euros per person !!!) It works full steam ahead during the summer, and it is always crowded! For more information visit the restaurant’s website by clicking here!
The cave is 24 meters above the sea and the landscape is surreal! In the past centuries, the Cave was famous for hosting balls and parties from feudal lords, they also say that it was here that the Queen of Hungary, Joan, hid with her lover. It is the perfect place for a romantic dinner, to celebrate a birthday, to make a proposal…
