Wine resorts are former wineries transformed into luxury hotels. They usually still have an operating winery, and offer various services in addition to accommodation such as a restaurant, tastings, tours of the vineyards, among other very interesting attractions.

Some of them include a complimentary tasting, others don’t, so even if you don’t intend to stay at a wine resort, remember that you can find out about a tasting there, as they are usually open to the general public. The same goes for the restaurants in these resorts: many open their doors to the public, however, some require reservations, so if you want to have dinner at a wine resort, check availability BEFORE your trip, okay?!

In an excellent location, just a few kilometers from Montalcino, we find the incredible Castello Banfi Wine Resort. Mastrojanni Winery opened in 1975 and soon established itself as one of the best producers in Tuscany. Today the site is an exquisite wine resort, surrounded by vineyards, and in the heart of the area that calls the traditional Brunello di Montalcino.

The old farmhouses have been completely restored and have become suites, spaces for guests and also home to one of the best restaurants in the area. You can also enjoy the pool that offers a splendid panoramic view, and admire the sunset that reminds us of a painting with its golden tones.

With completely organic products, Il Borro belongs to the Ferragamo family and is a property of 1100 hectares. Located in the heart of Tuscany, in San Giustino Valdarno, it offers visitors exuberant nature, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, arable land and various vegetable gardens. They also produce their own cheese, as they raise sheep on the property, in addition to making their own honey. It’s a very special place!

The rooms are distributed in villas and farms, and the structure also offers two great options for dining: Osteria del Borro and Borro Tuscan Bistrot. For those who are fans of a well-served aperitif: BorroBar is spectacular and deserves a visit! There, I suggest you enjoy one of the most delicious wines in all of Tuscany: the Valdarno di Sopra Petruna 2019, which is a Sangiovese vinified in amphorae.
