Our Introduction

The Italian South It is very famous for its cinematic beaches. It’s hard not to talk about southern Italy and not think about Capri, Amalfi Coast, or the Sardinia region, but – what not everyone knows – is that the Italian south also produces excellent wines, like all Italian regions, and some of the country’s most celebrated wines are made in beautiful Calabria! Calabria is one of the least visited regions by tourists, but – culturally and historically – it is one of the most famous in southern Italy. It is in Calabria that you will find some of the most charming wine resorts in Italy, and it is to this magical region that we are going today to discover wineries to stay in Calabria.

First of all: what is Wine Resort?

Let’s go! Wine resorts are usually old wine cellars that have been transformed into luxury hotels. Several of them still have an operating winery, and often offer us various services in addition to accommodation, such as restaurants, tastings, and tours of the vineyards, among other very interesting attractions. Some of them offer complete packages, others do not. Learn here: How To Bring Wines From Italy In Your Luggage?

Good to know

Some hotels include a complimentary tasting, for example, others do not, so even if you do not plan to stay at a wine resort but would like to visit it, remember to request information about a tasting there, as they usually open the winery to the general public.

The same goes for the restaurants in these places: many of them open their doors to the public, however, some require a reservation, so if you want to dine at a wine resort, check availability BEFORE your trip, ok?! Read also: What are the types of Italian wines?

Golden Tips

  • When choosing your place of accommodation, you confirm which services are included in the rate; this is because some hotels already include a tasting in the price of the room, for example, others do not, so confirm all the services included BEFORE.
  • Remember that this type of accommodation does not have seasonality, so even if you travel during the low season, make your reservation in advance!
  • Check with the hotel to see if they offer a transfer service; if you want to go directly from the airport to the hotel, it’s good to know that some of them offer the service—some paid, some free. If you are interested in hiring a Private Transfer, click here and request a free quote!
  • For hotels that offer a restaurant in their structure, check if there is a need for a reservation, as some restaurants are also open to the public, that is, to non-guests. Ask at the front desk if there is a need for a reservation for both lunch and dinner.
