The Amalfi Coast is a piece of land with 50 kilometers of coastline, in Campania, divided into several cities. Amalfi, the city that gives the Coast its name, is the most famous, the most sought after and, therefore, the most expensive, but it is close to all the others, so it offers the visitor the chance to choose to sleep in a more affordable city , as public transport works very well in all cities on the coast.

Well, speaking of accommodation, we will teach you some tricks: one of the great secrets to visit the Amalfi Coast, is to travel outside the high season. And even out of season, believe me, you can enjoy the beach. You can go, for example, between March and June, before the July and August crowd gets there. During this period the accommodation costs less, the cities are more empty and you can get to know everything with more tranquility. If you prefer to go during the second half of the year, you can go between September and October, as in the autumn the cities offer stunning views and wonderful days on the beach, since on the coast the cold takes a little longer to arrive. Another important tip: choose inns. In addition to the price being much more affordable, the values tend to be lower. One more trick: stay away from famous cities and prefer to sleep in lesser known cities. The most popular ones are Positano and Amalfi, but the other cities are just as beautiful as they are, and have a cost quite below their famous neighbors. The city of Praiano, for example, which is next to Positano, offers several hotels with stunning views of the sea and for a much lower price, as well as Ravello, Furore and others.

It is important to choose the city and, from there, learn to drive along the Amalfi Coast. The stretch that connects the villages on the coast is one of the beautiful stretches in Italy, but the road is very “tricky”: narrow, full of curves and, especially in summer, VERY busy; therefore, if you are driving: be patient and drive carefully – if possible, avoid peak hours: from 7 am to 9 am and from 5 pm to 7 pm. Parking lots

It is also worth remembering that parking lots there is not cheap and it is almost impossible to get into the city centers by car. Go prepared to pay a small parking fortune: somewhere around 5 euros an hour! But the good news, as we said earlier, is that public transport works VERY well there! The company responsible for the buses is SITA. Pay attention to the timetables, which change according to the season, ok ?! Anyway, be patient, be very patient!

Locomotion

If possible, organize your itinerary to visit the coast between Monday and Thursday, because on the weekend the movement can be double !! If you have a car, this tip will make a difference! Another option is to walk! You can even go trekking along the Gods’ Pathway, which is one of the most beautiful routes in Italy and offers a splendid view of the sea.

The Gods’ Pathway links two small towns: Agerola to Nocelle, both in Positano. The walk is not difficult and, walking calmly, making strategic stops, lasts 3 hours, with a total of 8 kilometers.
