The Palace is part of the 22 built by the Italian royal family, the Savoia Family; of these, 11 are in the city center. 2) Visit the Palace of Venaria in Turin – ABOUT THE PALACE OF VENARIA
The Palace of Venaria was commissioned by Duke Carlos Emanuele II and was built between 1658 to 1679; the name came from the city of Venatio Regia, which comes from Latin and means ‘art of hunting’. Next to the Palace there was a forest almost 100 kilometers long, where the court men hunted and made banquets. A beautiful garden was also made in the residence, which is still extremely well maintained today! Also read Where to sleep on the Wine Route in Piedmont?
In 1739, Carlos Emanuele III decided to create an underground system and corridors connecting with other areas of the Palace, in addition to including stables. But, as life is not a bed of roses, even for the royal family, the decline occurred in the 19th century and, with the entry of Napoleon in Italy, the royal family fled and left the Palace. The restoration of the Palace only took place in the 90s and lasted almost 10 years. It was reopened, in all its splendor, in 2007. Today it has 50 rooms open for visitation.
