Today we head to Tuscany to get to know better the best winery of 2022, Marchesi Antinori. In a dispute between several wineries around the world, the historic Tuscan winery won the prize in a competition with 500 judges who are experts in wine and travel.
The 500 voters – wine and travel experts – chose a Bel Paese winery as the best in the world in 2022. We are talking about the historic, and beautiful, Marchesi Antinori Winery.
Among the Italian wineries that appear in the top 50 are also in the ranking: Ferrari Trento (Emilia Romagna), in 11th place; and Donnafugata-Marsala (Sicily), in 45th place. Also read: How To Bring Wines From Italy In Your Luggage?
How is the choice made?
The World’s Best Vineyards ranking includes the most beautiful wineries in the world. One of the first items to be evaluated is the work as a whole, that is, they evaluate all the details and enter the list: the gastronomy, the activities, the panorama, the team and the cost-benefit ratio, as well as the atmosphere and the quality of the product manufactured and offered by competitors. Voting is carried out by 500 judges and, after analysis, the winning wineries are chosen.
The winning and historic Marchesi Antinori Winery
With a centuries-old history, the Antinori winery belongs to the homonymous family that began producing wines at the end of the XIV century. With 26 generations in charge of production, in 2012 an innovative winery was inaugurated and after seven years of work a new masterpiece emerged: a winery designed by the architect Marco Casamonti, which blends in with the typical Tuscan landscape and appears almost invisible from the side. out.
Inside, there is an impressive helical staircase that connects the three floors of the structure. Using exclusively local materials, the building was realized with minimal impact on the environment. Find out here: What are the types of Italian wines?
On the roof of the structure there is a (beautiful) collection of works of art, many of them commissioned from local artists, reinforcing the company’s commitment to the region where it is located.
The location of the best winery in the world
The winery has an impressive view: it overlooks the countryside through a terrace surrounded by vineyards that offer the typical variety of Chianti Classico, Sangiovese. However, other grapes are also grown there: Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, Colorino, Malvasia nera, Mammolo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc.
Designed to allow “gravity” vinification and to ensure impeccable wine production and storage, the place is silent and production is almost a sacred ritual. The quality of the wine is unquestionable and the place looks, in fact, like a dream! Reading suggestion: When is the best time to visit Italian wineries?
Fun fact: What is gravity winemaking?
It is totally natural winemaking, that is, without any machine intervention. For this type of winemaking, only gravity is used. Experts claim that this type of winemaking better preserves the fragrance and flavor of the wine. Several wineries around the world have rebuilt or adapted their underground structures and even on sloping land to assist the action of gravity.
What wines are produced there?
The best winery in the world produces Chianti Classico being:

- Reservation Villa Antinori Chianti Classico – CHIANTI CLASSICO DOCG RESERVE
