Region of southern Italy, with 25,709 square kilometers and 4,680,715 inhabitants, divided into nine provinces (Palermo, Agrigento, Caltanissetta, Catania, Enna, Messina, Ragusa, Syracuse and Trapani) and 383 municipalities, its capital is Palermo. Sicily is located in the Mediterranean, between Europe and Africa. It is characterized by a very strong personality; indeed, Sicily witnessed and participated in the flowering of many civilizations in the ancient world. The various conquerors left a cultural heritage that, over the centuries, gave rise to an intriguing mixture of languages, customs and culinary, artistic and especially architectural traditions. Its tourist vocation is identified in the historical and artistic heritage of the civilizations that dominated the island during Antiquity (Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans), during the Middle Ages (Arabic and Norman) and in the architectural style of Baroque cities, such as Noto.

2) Shall we get to know Sicily? ITINERARIES

Those passing through Sicily have the opportunity to take different routes. There are many options, such as: cultural itineraries in the cities of Palermo, Cefalu, Monreale, Catania and Trapani; the baroque cities of Ragusa and Modica, Noto and archaeological itineraries in the cities of Siracusa, Selinunte, Segesta and Agrigento. In addition, one can discover the ruins of the city of Mozia, the Roman Villa in Piazza Armerina and the Greek theater in Taormina. Natural Beauties

We cannot fail to mention the natural beauties of this region: as a naturalistic itinerary, we can visit the Madononie Regional Park, Monti Nebrodis, the famous Etna volcano, the marine reserves of Ustica, the Cyclopi and Egadi Islands.

For those who love the sea, Sicily proposes the elitist model in Taormina, and the classic one along the coastal perimeter (Cefalu, Tindari, Milazzo and Capo d’Orlando, Pachino, San Vito Lo Capo). The smaller archipelagos attract fans of nautical tourism and water sports.
