A region in southern Italy that borders Molise, Campania and Basilicata in the west, while all other borders are maritime. It has a population of 3,582,787 inhabitants, spread over 19,347 square kilometers and comprises five provinces: Bari, Brindisi, Foggia, Lecce and Taranto. 1) Shall we get to know Apulia? ITS ATTRACTIONS
Apulia offers tourists an artistic heritage related to Apulia’s historical role; in the past, it was the commercial and cultural bridge between the West and the Mediterranean. Art tourism has its main attractions in the Pugliese Romanesque cathedrals (Bari, Trani, Barletta), the medieval castles of Gioia del Colle and Castel del Monte, the Baroque palaces and churches of Lecce and the original houses of Alberobello. 2) Shall we get to know Puglia? PILGRIMAGE TOURISM
Pilgrimage tourism has as its main destination: San Giovanni Rotondo and Monte Sant’Angelo, respectively, for the cult of Father Pio and St Michael. Nature tourism takes place mainly in the Gargano Natural Park, which protects different types of ecosystems.
