Our Introduction

Venice, in Veneto region, is one of the most romantic cities in the world and that is an indisputable fact. Represented in films, books, poems and other works, Venice is a lovely city, full of beauty, history and culture, and is much sought after by honeymooners.

A little more about Venice

Venice is an archipelago with 120 islands joined by bridges in a large lagoon, between the mainland and the sea. In antiquity it was an important commercial point for all of Italy due to its privileged position, and it was also once a Republic: the famous Serenissima Republic of Venice. It is currently one of the most visited cities in Italy and is, without a doubt, a splendor, with many very interesting tourist attractions.

I recently got a “mini honeymoon” in Venice as a birthday present from my husband. Despite having been to the city a few times, I can assure you that Venice NEVER disappoints! It remains timeless, full of charm and attractions that delight our eyes. It seems to have stopped in time and presents itself with an elegance that impresses! It is indeed magic.

For the romantics out there: how about a dinner cruise?

The eyes sparkled, right?! Well, I lived this experience and now I will tell you everything about it! However, before I tell you how my dinner was, I bring you some important information about this tour. In Venice we find a very special type of vessel called Galeone. The Venetian galleons are huge vessels typical of the Republic of Venice, and were widely used between 1600 and 1800, especially for military purposes and transport of goods.

Adapted to be transformed into restaurants, nowadays the boats are touristic and faithfully reproduced to the originals. They are also fully accessible for the disabled. The big key point of this tour is that it can be done in any season of the year; the boat does not have air conditioning. In Winter it has a rigid roof structure with panoramic windows and there is the heating system; in Summer the structure is removed and the galleon remains open which provides cover in case of rain. The Itinerary

You can choose to depart from the shores of the pier in Venice from in front of the Naval Museum, or, if you prefer, depart from the pier in Punta Sabbioni, near Jesolo. The itinerary is always the same: the navigation starts towards the north lagoon, where you can admire places like Le Vignole, Sant’Erasmo, San Francesco del Deserto, Burano, Torcello, Mazzorbo and Murano. After this journey, the boat returns to Venice proper and begins to go around the Arsenale and the small islands of Santa Maria delle Grazie and San Giorgio, heading towards the Giudecca Canal and concluding the tour with the San Marco basin. Arrival is at the same boarding place, so it will depend on where you boarded. Take a look at What are the top ten tourist monuments in Venice?

The Menu

In the meantime, dinner is served. You choose the menu when booking and you can choose from a fish, meat or vegetarian menu. All of them feature starters, a main course, a second course, dessert, water and, for each adult, a bottle of wine from the Veneto region.

The menu always has 2 first courses and the meats or fish and, for vegetarians, the menu varies according to the season, with a Spring menu, a Summer menu, an Autumn menu and a Winter menu. Any allergies or intolerances must be reported.

Fish Menu

For those who choose the fish menu, the dishes are as follows*: canapés, prawns with lemon complemented by a tomato salad, sea bass flavored with capers and “Taggiasca” olives, marinated anchovies with pink pepper, octopus and scallops au gratin in a carrot and ginger sauce. As a main course you will receive a delicious seafood risotto and pancake stuffed with zucchini, saffron and taleggio; as a second course, a fillet of salted fish with vegetable ratatouille and roasted potatoes. For dessert we have seasonal fruits, tiramisù and coffee.

Meat Menu

If you choose the meat menu*, you will taste: canapés with mushrooms and Grana Padano, meat with Modena balsamic vinegar, pumpkin cream and ricotta. The main course is strozzapreti pasta with meat sauce and pancakes stuffed with mushrooms; for the second course you will have a bacon and turkey roll with ratatouille vegetables and rosemary roasted potatoes; you can also opt for an Angus steak on a bed of mushrooms and, for dessert, seasonal fruits, tiramisu and coffee.

Vegetarian Menu

And, finally, if you choose the vegetarian menu*, get ready to taste eggplant parmigiana with burrata from Puglia and parmesan wafer; as a main course a delicious risotto with rosemary; for the second vegetable quenelle with parmesan sauce and roasted potatoes. And for dessert, seasonal fruit, tiramisu and coffee.

Important:

  • (*) the menus may change according to the availability of ingredients.

Tip:

  • Although there is a specific menu available for children, I do not suggest that you take them along on the tour. It is a very romantic tour, dinner by candlelight and children can get bored easily, remembering that the tour lasts about three hours.

How to choose the ideal table?

Well, the best tables are on the outside deck, which is actually the top deck. There is also the central deck. They are more private and offer the best panoramic views. The tables in the bow and stern are cheaper, but the view is not that amazing and, at these tables, you will have the company of other people, that is: if you want something more reserved, opt for a table for two. During the summer, dinner is served outdoors, but in case of rain they will serve dinner inside the boat.

Important Informations

Should I book in advance?

Yes! At least five days before the tour and the sooner you make the reservation, the more possibility you have of being able to choose the desired table.

How much?

120.00 euros per person on deck, and 100.00 euros per person in the bow/stern area. You can cancel the tour up to 72 hours in advance at no additional cost.

Golden Tip

  • If you want to spend the New Year on board, know that it is possible!* They offer a special dinner and fireworks display seen from the boat! It’s a beautiful experience – *VERIFY AVAILABILITY, BECAUSE THE EVENT MAY BE CHANGED WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE.

Romantic dinner in Venice: My personal experience

Well… divine! If I had to sum it up in one word, that would be the word: DI-VI-NE! There is NOTHING I would change! The atmosphere is delicious, the service is very courteous, the place is super organized, clean, and the food magnificent! I MEAN IT! The dishes are super elegant but filling. By having a series of dishes, such as starters, main course and others, you can be sure that you won’t leave feeling hungry.

The atmosphere is delicious and of course very, very, very romantic! Candlelight, ambient music, splendid panoramas: it’s an experience worth living as a couple.

If you are thinking of traveling to Venice as a couple and want a romantic, different and unforgettable program: include this tour in your itinerary! You will not regret!

  • The tip to save A LOT is to book  in advance.
  • As we also mentioned: beware of excess baggage! It is very complicated to get around with large volumes in Venice because of the bridges, stairs and narrow streets.
