1) How to go from Santa Lucia station to my hotel in Venice? PRIVATE WATER TRANSFER

That first option that I recommend in my opinion is the best, it is the private taxi, which will take you along with your family, friends and relatives, as close to your hotel as possible, even in some hotels they have “parking”, so the water taxi can practically drop you off at the hotel, if the hotel does not have a private port the taxi will be leaving you as close as possible! This service, like any private service, is more expensive, but it pays off for comfort and mainly because you will not spend so much time trying to understand how to get to your hotel. Accessing the banner below, you can get more information about this option.

Advantage

  • It is certainly the least stressful option. Nothing better than arriving after a long trip and finding someone waiting to take you to the hotel without wasting too much time.

Disadvantage

  • In comparison with the other means presented below, there is none, because your tranquility, security and satisfaction with the contracted service are worth the amount paid. With the transfer you will not have to worry about consulting maps, nor be afraid to make ‘wrong’ choices regarding the means of transport.

Water Transfer? Ask for a budgeting with no commitment!!!!

It is safe, comfortable and cost-effective. In this way, you avoid the exchange of transport to get to the hotel, since the transfer is direct! No stops! Besides having a person who picks you up at the station and takes you to the boat!!!

2) How to go from Santa Lucia station to my hotel in Venice? WALKING

I’ve already done this, but I recommend it only if you are staying in a hotel near Piazzale Roma or the train station and especially if you have small luggage. Otherwise take a water transport, consider that amount in your budgeting now, so that you are not alarmed by the values. Remember that we are talking about one of the most beautiful and expensive cities in the world.

Advantage

  • Only economy.

Disadvantage

  • It is certainly the most stressful option. If your hotel is located far from the station, it will be super complicated to find yourself in the alleys of Venice, but especially crossing the various bridges! So I don’t recommend it for elderly people and families with children.

3) How to go from Santa Lucia station to my hotel in Venice? VAPORETTO

The vaporetto is a kind of water bus with several stops, so you will have to understand which is the right line that stops as close to your hotel as possible. You usually find this information on the website of the hotel you booked or you will have to ask for your hotel. As I explained, it is exactly like a bus, the only difference is that instead of traveling on the land, it travels on the water.

Advantage

  • In general, this type of transport is very economical, but it is only useful when there are few people, 1 or 2 people and with little luggage. If you are with family or elderly people it is not advisable if the vaporetto stop is too far from your hotel.

Disadvantage

  • If the stop is far from the hotel you will have to walk a lot with your luggage, in addition to that a little time is wasted trying to understand which vaporetto to take, besides the tiredness and the distance. Find out here “How to use the Vaporetto?”.

4) How to go from Santa Lucia station to my hotel in Venice? LOCOMOTION

How to get around Venice? Gondola or Traghetto? Well, you’ve previously seen the options for getting around Venice, and in addition to the water taxi and vaporetto, there are other options for moving around the city, such as the gondola, but I would obviously advise you as a tour and not as a means of transport, due to the cost, or the traghetto to cross from one place to another. But to understand more about it read the following post: How much does a gondola ride cost in Venice ?!

Important

Always remember and, be careful, you get what you pay for, especially in a place that you do not know, and without knowing how to speak the local language! So I suggest you think carefully about the options presented above, especially if you are traveling with children and the elderly! Don’t take any risks, invest a little more and travel safely, comfortably and without worries or risks of ruining your long-awaited trip, O.K.? Regardless of the way you decide to take this trip, I hope my advice is useful for you to be able to have a peaceful and safe trip.

Don’t want to stay on the island? No problems! Search for Mestre, Campalto or Favaro Veneto, which are the mainland cities of Venice and offer excellent accommodation options. A little further from Piazzale Roma, about 20 minutes by water transport, they do not have magnificent views from the bedroom windows, but it is ideal for those who want to save on accommodation.

Tips

  • The tip to save A LOT is to book your hotel in advance.
  • As we also mentioned: beware of excess baggage! It is very complicated to get around with large volumes in Venice because of the bridges, stairs and narrow streets.
