1) How much will I spend on a trip to Milan? ACCOMMODATION IN MILAN

Well, Milan is full of hotels and most of them are very well located. I always suggest that you choose a hotel in an ‘intermediate’ location: neither central nor peripheral. Always consider the following: the farther from the center the hotel is, the more you will spend on travel, that is, in the end it ends up being six of one for half a dozen of the other; you save on one side to spend on the other!

Milan daily rates can range from EUR 120.00 to EUR 1,000.00! It all depends on the type of hotel chosen and the location and the period (if there are important fairs). It is worth remembering that you will spend little time there, that is, it is not worth choosing a super luxury hotel. A night at a well-located hotel in Milan ranges from around EUR 100 to EUR 150. For our trip, we will consider a 3-day trip! We will consider accommodation for 3 days in a hotel with a daily rate of EUR 100.00: EUR 300.00 (for two people ). 2) How much will I spend on a trip to Milan? TRANSPORT IN MILAN

Milan is predominantly flat, that is: it is quite suitable for walking. However, if you are not one of those who enjoy walking, you can opt for bus and subway, which, by the way, works very well! Remembering that it is also the most used means of transport by the Milanese to get to and from work, that is: during the rush hour, you will face crowded trains! Find out more in our section Transport in Italy!

The Subway in Milan

Well, the Milan metro has four lines, 111 stations and is almost 100 km long! You can reach all points of the city using the subway and, where it does not reach, there is the option of buses. With more than 80 lines, buses run every 30 minutes (they are not always punctual, not least because they depend on traffic, but nothing absurd!). In this WEBSITE, of the responsible company, it is possible to access maps, to get to know distances and even to know where it is possible to rent bicycles!

Ticket prices for municipal train, bus and subway

The ticket to use the municipal train, bus and metro costs EUR 1.50 and you can use it for up to 1h30 after the first validation. If you prefer, opt for the daily ticket, which lasts 24 hours and costs EUR 4.50. Therefore, calculate two tickets, round trip, per day, something around EUR 3.00 / day. If you prefer, buy the daily ticket (best option, just between us!), For EUR 4.50. It is valid for 24 hours and, for the value for money, ends up being more affordable. To pay the transportation bill, we will consider the daily ticket for 3 days – EUR 13.50 (for 2 people EUR 27.00). Read also: Round trip from Milan?

Important Tip

  • ALWAYS validate your ticket! If the inspector asks for your ticket and it is not validated, there will be a very annoying fine! Learn more about validating the train ticket here!

The long-awaited moment has arrived: food! Good and cheap food in the best ‘made in Italy’ style! Eating in Milan is not expensive and you eat VERY well, spending between 20 and 30 euros, depending on the location you choose. However, we are talking about a full lunch / dinner with antipasto, main course, dessert and ¼ of wine. Find out more in our section Food in Italy!

A more exclusive restaurant can cost around 100 Euros per person, but consider that it is a UNIQUE opportunity and see it as an investment! Using a very reasonable value for lunch / dinner, considering a snack for lunch and an average restaurant, you will spend about EUR 35.00 – 50.00 / day, and our final bill with food will be EUR 105.00 for 3 days. (for two people, EUR 210.00). Also read Where to eat in Milan?
